Jewelry Casting
|
Jewelry casting has been around for ages. Today, jewelry casting uses the same basic method of casting as did the Ancient Egyptians.
The process is know as Lost Wax Casting. All jewelry casting starts with a wax model placed in to a casting flask (a metal container). The next step is pouring casting investmet (basically a fine plaster) over the model and letting the plaster investment dry and harden.
Next, the part where the jewlery casting process gets its name description of Lost Wax Casting. The casting flask is placed in an oven and slowly heated to high tempuratures and the wax is melted away leaving a perfect mold of plaster for the metal to be poured into.
Metal is heated and then poured into the new plaster investment flask and the jewelry is created.
